This class will acquaint the Surveyor & Mapper with the history of the Public Land Survey System in the United States as it pertains to public lands.  Many PSMs have little or no knowledge of the subject that is covered in this course.  Understanding the history of the PLSS is vital in conducting retracement surveys since many of the original cadasdtral corners have been lost.
